The Challenge

Transform disjointed training materials (inconsistent PDFs, non-mobile-friendly Kajabi content, unbranded videos) into a cohesive learning experience for contractors who consume content on mobile devices in field environments. Needed to balance accessibility for new contractors while driving conversions to higher-value coaching programs.

Inconsistent Branding

PDF downloads had various levels of branding and inconsistent colors, fonts, and visual hierarchy across materials.

Poor Mobile Experience

Content delivery wasn't mobile-friendly, but our audience largely consumes training in the field on mobile devices.

No Progress Tracking

Students had no way to track progress through courses or pick up where they left off.

Technical Barriers

Home improvement contractors aren't known for tech savviness - the platform needed to be intuitive and uncluttered.

My Solution

Designed complete user experience from scratch, creating full page mockups in Canva for WordPress/AccessAlly platform. Developed mobile-first approach optimized for field use with larger navigation, dynamic layouts, and visual-focused design for contractor audience.

1

Created comprehensive UX mockups

Designed complete course layout from blank white pages in Canva, focusing on clean modern lines, on-brand imagery, and fast-loading mobile-responsive pages.

2

Coordinated international development team

Managed Australian development team through detailed Trello workflows with all assets, timelines, and clear communication channels for different time zones.

3

Developed mobile-first course structure

Optimized for contractors who watch/listen to content on job sites - larger buttons, fewer images on mobile, visual-focused design with minimal text density.

4

Coordinated full production pipeline

Managed 6-10 video course production, created branded worksheets/downloads, designed thumbnails, and oversaw all video edits with final approval authority.

Cohesive Visual Design

Established consistent branding across all course materials with proper typography, color schemes, and visual hierarchy.

Mobile Optimization

Dynamic page layouts with larger navigation elements, optimized images, and touch-friendly interface design.

Clear Navigation

Predictable lesson progression with obvious customer service access and expert coach highlighting.

Strategic Upselling

Designed course flow to naturally introduce higher-value coaching programs while solving immediate business problems.

Successfully launched 4 courses averaging $150 price point, with some achieving 500+ sales in first 30 days. Created scalable course development process that supports both accessibility goals and business conversion objectives.

Key Achievement: Students often pay us the highest compliment - either buying into our higher ticket programs or jumping into another course. The difference between the new system and previous is largely quality of content, appearance of product, and usability of delivery platform.

Student Feedback Highlights:

  • Contractors frequently consume our content while on job sites, making the mobile optimization crucial for real-world usage
  • The visual-first approach resonated with our audience who prefer "watching" over "reading" heavy text content
  • Clear navigation and progress tracking helped students stay engaged through complete course sequences
  • Professional presentation increased perceived value and trust in our expertise

Business Impact: The systematic approach to course development and delivery became a template for future educational products. The platform successfully balanced making content accessible to new contractors while strategically introducing higher-value coaching opportunities, supporting overall business growth and student success.

Project Management Insights

International Team Coordination: Working with the Australian development team required detailed documentation and clear communication systems. Time zones meant the developer worked while we slept, making it crucial that he had access to ALL information and files without needing real-time support.

The project taught me valuable lessons about remote team coordination across significant time differences. Success required:

  • Comprehensive Documentation: Every design decision, asset location, and project requirement needed to be clearly documented and accessible
  • Detailed Mockups: Creating full visual mockups in Canva eliminated ambiguity about design intentions and reduced back-and-forth communication
  • Structured Communication: Trello boards with clear task assignments, due dates, and conversation tracking kept the project organized across time zones
  • Asset Management: Maintaining organized file structures and clear naming conventions ensured the team could find what they needed independently

This experience reinforced my ability to coordinate complex projects with distributed teams, a skill that's become increasingly valuable in today's remote work environment.
